leveled learning

Excelsior Academy uses ability grouping in reading, math, and spelling. Leveled learning enables students to be taught at their challenge level. Students are assessed regularly to ensure proper level placement.

direct instruction

Direct Instruction (DI) is a teaching model utilized throughout our curriculum. DI involves carefully planned lessons designed for precise delivery from the teacher and verbal responses from students. These responses allow for greater teacher monitoring. Results show a higher mastery for each student.
