Greetings! I have had the honor of being a part of the Excelsior Academy team since 2013. It’s has been a privilege to fulfill many different roles that have helped me grow as a professional. I have experience teaching second and third grade and have worked with students from kindergarten through eighth grade. I was the third-grade language arts teacher for multiple years, and am now a part of the middle school math team. I also have been an instructional coach in spelling, math, and middle school. It is an honor to work closely with the well-trained staff and professionals that Excelsior Academy provides.
I was raised in Woodland, Utah. As a young girl, I played school and developed a dream of becoming a teacher. I followed that dream and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree with dual majors in Elementary Education and Special Education from Southern Utah University. I met my husband at Southern Utah University and we now have five daughters. I love to sew, craft, read, rollerblade, hike, and be outdoors. I also enjoy chocolate.
I strive to bring love, joy, music, and laughter into the classroom daily! Learning can be fun and a great adventure. Being smart is "the willingness to try and learn." I believe in each of my students and encourage them to be lifelong learners and leaders. I’d like students to know that they are valued and loved. I hope they remember that if you are willing to try and “just think of happy thoughts, you will fly,” (Peter Pan).
