Biography

Hello! My name is Nicholette Thorne-Smith and I teach Special Education at Excelsior Academy for Kindergarten and First Grade. I grew up in Bountiful, Utah and have always loved hiking in the mountains and swimming in the reservoirs. I grew up with three siblings (two brothers and 1 sister) and was fortunate to learn about special education through my youngest brother and grow my passion for advocating for people with disabilities through him as I grew up. 

I graduated from Utah State University in 2013 and received my Bachelors of Science in Special Education with an emphasis in teaching individuals with Severe Disabilities. I have been teaching for 7 years and LOVE to teach students and LEARN from students. My career passion is to help my students become who they aspire to be and I am so lucky to work side by side with such determined people. 

I love to hang out with my husband, little boy and our two dogs. We love to watch the Utah Jazz, football and spend time on our waverunners during the warmer months. I can be seen running or biking with my brother on the weekends and drinking hot chocolate inside if it's cold! I am so excited to meet you all and learn together!
