My name is Yesenia Valenzuela. I am a mother of 4, have been married for 15 years, and a Utah Native. We decided to relocate to Stansbury Park in 2019 and it has been a welcoming family-oriented community to raise our children. I am a graduate from University of Utah with a double major in Sociology and Political Science. I have worked 10 years in the public sector and found my career to be rewarding and meaningful to be of service to my community. I attribute my success from a personal goal to keep learning and evolving.
After going through trials and tribulations during the pandemic with public and other local charter schools, I am beyond grateful to have found the learning environment and school curriculum provided at Excelsior Academy. The leveled learning and the community concept of “It Takes a Village” has been exceptional when developing and supporting my children’s educational needs.
Last school year was our first academic year attending Excelsior Academy. I was extremely impressed by the dedication and attention the school and its staff members provided for my children to learn and grow. My 8th grader gained the confidence and discipline he needed to be successful in high school. My 4th grader was able to get the individual support she needed, and my kindergartener developed a zest for learning.
I am thrilled to apply my education and experience within the Excelsior Board of Trustees and am eager to work together to ensure an ethical approach of integrity and professionalism for creating tomorrow’s leaders while encompassing classical education, celebrating academic achievements, and embracing cultural diversity and inclusion to all.
