Mr. Justin Vance

Mathematics

My strongest subject is math, and my favorite subject is English. I love to read, and my wife jokes that I married her for her books. I also love to feel helpful, and I believe one of the best ways I can help people is by teaching youth math skills they can use in their lives and in pursuing their dreams.

I am new to Excelsior Academy in 2026, and I come with three years of middle school math teaching experience. Before that, I helped teach Calculus at Utah State University, where I graduated with degrees in Mathematics Education and English Teaching. I also worked as a Writing Fellow there, tutoring college-level writing.

I have many interests, including viola, choir, piano, reading, sudoku-style puzzles, soccer, jogging, automation, and strategy games. I hope to keep learning my whole life, and I am grateful that teaching gives me the chance to help students do the same.
