Hello! My name is Karl Wegener, and I have had the privilege of teaching 4th grade at Excelsior Academy since 2024. From the moment I stepped into the classroom, I knew I wanted to create a place where students feel safe, valued, and excited to learn. One of my greatest passions is getting to know each child as an individual and building meaningful relationships that help them grow both academically and personally.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Utah State University and recently completed my Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on curriculum design. I love finding creative ways to make learning engaging, meaningful, and memorable for students. History has always been one of my favorite subjects, and I especially enjoy bringing the stories of the past to life through interactive lessons, hands-on activities, and meaningful discussions. Whether we’re exploring ancient civilizations, solving problems together, or diving into a great discussion, I want my classroom to be a place where curiosity is encouraged and every student feels capable of success.
During the summers, I work at the Boys & Girls Club, where I enjoy continuing to mentor and connect with kids outside of the traditional classroom. Those experiences have reinforced my belief that every child learns differently and deserves someone who believes in them.
Outside of school, I’m a big fan of board games, video games, and fantasy stories. Some of my favorite books include Fablehaven and The Lord of the Rings. I enjoy anything that encourages creativity, teamwork, and adventure, and I love bringing that same sense of excitement into my classroom whenever I can.
I look forward to another great year of learning, growing, and making lasting memories with my students and their families!
