Biography

Hello! I'm Mrs. Cole and I'm excited to teach 3rd grade again this year. Third grade is such a pivotal year in education.  It is the year that students move from learning to read—decoding words using their knowledge of the alphabet—to reading to learn. The books children are expected to master are no longer simple primers, but fact-filled informational texts.  Students begin the process of transitioning from lower grades to upper grades. Through the course of the year, I gain tremendous joy from observing their growth and academic achievement.

My journey at Excelsior Academy started in 2019 as a classroom instructor. I quickly fell in love with the curriculum, the culture, the staff, and all of our amazing students. After a year in that role, I instantly knew I wanted to be part of the big picture at Excelsior and returned to school. I then moved into the role of the school's reading intervention specialist before starting my journey as a teacher.    

I am married to my best friend, Brian. Together, we have four kids, all of which have gone to or are going to Excelsior Academy. Most of my free time is spent at the ballpark or spending time with my baseball family.
