My name is Kimalee Horst and I am so excited to be in third grade. Third grade is the place to be! So much growth happens during this year of third grade, both academically and socially, and as their teacher, I am here to help guide them during their transition into the upper grades. Third-grade students are expected to learn many new things and have a level of responsibility. I love seeing them rise to the challenge!
I have always loved working with children and dreamed of being a school counselor. I received my bachelor's degree in Psychology from Utah Valley University. After having four daughters, I returned to work and quickly found a love for teaching. I have worked as an early education reading teacher and a reading intervention specialist. I was drawn to Excelsior Academy because of its mission of teaching classical education and leveled learning. I have worked as an instructor, a 2nd-grade teacher, and now a 3rd-grade teacher at Excelsior Academy.
I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 18 years. We have four amazing daughters, who all attend Excelsior Academy. I have seen amazing growth and experiences for my own children and my students from Excelsior Academy’s academic rigor and leveled learning.
